A day of shopping...

My friend, Rachael (yep, the same spelling as my sister), needed to go shop for new bedroom furniture and asked if I would go with her and help her pick it out... Sure, why not?
So, she picked out a bed, desk, TV stand, a huge 4ft by 8ft mirror (super cute, too) and a lamp for her new place...
Then, of course, I decided to get a kitchen table! It's a darker wood, and high, with 6 chairs to go with it. It also can be pulled out and has a hidden leaf inside to make the table square! It's so cute! Don't worry, I'll take pictures when I get it on the 19th.
I also love bargains and got this really pretty blue vase for $12 and 6 white/wavy/diamond-like plates that were usually $10 and I got them for $3 each!
We then went over to Hobby Lobby (mom's favorite store in the world) and I got tons of cute scrapbook paper for the scrapbook I'm making for Brenda (Jason's mom) and I think I've decided to do an ABC Scrapbook for her... I think that will make it real cute and unique (remember when we did those years ago, Lori??)
Then we headed over to Bed, Bath, and Beyond (because I had 4 20% off coupons!) As I was looking around, I noticed end tables that had $80 on them, then discounted to $60, then had a 50% off sticker (and with my 20% off coupon) made each table about $24 each! I bought two.
They're really cute too, block wood with a drawer and very simple but super cute!
We topped it off with TGI Friday's, and I got a Portobella Mushroom and Angel Hair Pasta, that was incredible and I recommend it to anyone!
I had a lot of fun, that's for sure!

Bargins are in our blood! Did I tell you about my new washer? I was "looking" at Lowe's for inspiration, not planning to spend money and then I happened upon the clearance appliance isle. They had a Maytag washer marked down from $400.00 something to $306 and then again for 149.00. Someone who worked there came by when I was looking at it and wispered that anything on the clearance isle was always negotiable and I should make an offer. I talked to the guy from that department and asked him what the lowest price he would go on the washer I had spied and he told me to make an offer. Let me just say... I was really brave because the washer was a steal at 149.00. I said how bout 50 bucks and he said... OKAY! HU? So, I said "that was too easy, how bout $45.00?" and his reply?... Okay, but I cant go any lower.
Then I asked him what do I do if I get it home and it dosent work right. (had to be a reason he was willing to let it go for $45 right?) He said not to worry about it because it comes with an automatic 1yr warranty. Cool! then I asked him if it had been used and he filled me in. Someone had bought it, and when it was delivered, it had a dent in the front (not even noticeable) so the customer used it until a new one was sent to them. Lowes cant place a "return" onto the sales floor without being inspected by the manufacturer and the Maytag guy had just left from servicing it.
The story gets better...
I came home and called to get Ryan's truck and then I called a friend who needed a working washer and sold the one I had gotten for free (from freecycle) to her for $30.00.
I now have a Brand New top-of-the-line Maytag washer (it even has a finger faucet) and I am only out $15.00. Is that the deal of the century or what!!!?
I am kina jelous or all the good deals you found today. Isnt it great when you have money to spend when such good deals are right there in front of you? Not often does that ever happen, thats for sure. Cant wait to see pics.

Shannon, I'll be the first to admit that you have totally one-up'd me! Holy cow!
Tell me again why YOU didn't get the communications degree??? You have super persuasive skills!

I'll send pictures when I can, too

I was definately not trying to one-up you. I am still in shock that I got such an awsome deal and wanted to share it. Like I said earlier...Bargins are in our blood:0)

Oh, one more thing... I took a class on Interpersonal communications 2 semesters ago and I bombed it. I got a C+. Can you believe that? I'm not a very good writer and I think most degrees require that you become one. I was telling Andy that I will be fine with my AS in nursing and have no desire to get a BS. All I can think about when it comes to more school is all the papers that are required. And how long was the thesis paper you wrote to get a masters? NO THANK YOU! I could never do it. ha
