Customer Service

I've gotten some pretty bad customer service lately. Just last week, Jason and I went out to this fairly new restaurant "Nacho Papas" to try it out. We were not impressed. First of all, the waitress was very nice. She was very helpful and courteous. She also appeared to be on something with her inability to stay still.
Anyway, the chips and hot salsa (temperature, not spice) were okay. We also ordered cheese dip that tasted terrible! It had pieces of tomato and onion but didn't really have flavor. We noticed they make their own flour tortillas, so we ordered a few to try, expecting hot and soft tortillas with a little crisp on the outside. We got three flat tortillas with a doughy rawness to them.
Finally, we got our ordered meals. I got the black bean and rice burrito and Jason got a steak burrito. They looked so good covered with cheese, lettuce, tomato, salsa, and sour cream. I took a bite of mine and discovered the rice and the beans were not cooked all the way. You know that feeling when a grain of rice crunches in between your teeth and you know you should probably let it cook for just a little bit longer? Yeah, that was what it was like! I told our waitress and she felt really bad about it and took off the cost for Jason's iced tea and the fresh raw flour tortillas. She said she'd go talk to the staff and let them know. While she was gone, Jason started eating his steak burrito and noticed that the steak wasn't cut or sliced or in strips (or however they usually are in burritos) but they were in chunks! CHUNKS! Yes, imagine them in chunks the size of the small or medium size eggs at the grocery store. When the lady came back to check on us, Jason asked her about the Chunky Steak Burrito and she told him that it was the only way to make the steak when ordered medium (because apparently, they can't cook it medium, then slice it before putting it in the burrito!?!?!?!?!?). Oh, and then she told me that they have to make the rice and black beans el den ta before they put them in the burrito or else they will be all mushy. She then summed it up with, "In other words, it's supposed to be like that." (i.e. crunchy!) I then had to clarify her summary by saying, "you mean, they make it el den ta so it won't be mushy by the time it's actually served to the customer, but it should actually be cooked by the time it's served, right?" "Right" she said. Mmm-hmmm.
We won't be going there again.

That's too bad. I think I would have requested to talk to the manager. Maybe a follow-up letter to the owner?

I've only eaten there once before and it was okay. It's a shame we don't have a better mexican restaurant in our town. Even El Rodeo has disappointed me the last few times I've been there and I usually love eating there.
